TITLE:                     Program Set-Up Assistant
REPORTS TO:        Facilities Manager
STATUS:                 Non-exempt, part-time, 0-20 hours per week
                                Core hours are 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturdays on the following dates:
  • September 14, 21, 28
  • October 26
  • November 2, 9, 16, 23
  • December 7, 14
  • January 4, 18, 25
  • Feb 1, 8, 22
  • March 8, 22
  • April 5, 12, 26
LOCATION:             De LaSalle High School and MacPhail Center for Music, Minneapolis

Job Summary
The Set-Up Assistant is primarily responsible for set-ups for the Suzuki program on Saturdays, September – May at its offsite location of De LaSalle High School. Additionally, this position may be called upon year-round to provide additional set-up or light janitorial work during MacPhail events, heavy programming days or evenings, and to supplement the facilities schedule due to PTO among the facilities team. This position has a high frequency of interaction with faculty, staff and guests, and must conduct all interactions in a professional and friendly manner. This position works primarily evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Set-up classrooms, studios and auditorium as directed by the needs of the program to include moving and arranging furniture and music equipment
  • Ensure classrooms, studios and auditorium are ready for use through cleaning the spaces as needed including and not limited to trash removal, vacuuming, and sweeping
  • Work to ensure room and event set-ups are completed accurately, safely and efficiently
  • Inspect the facility and report any maintenance or housekeeping concerns to supervisor
  • Positively represent MacPhail to clients, the community, customers and visitors
  • Assist with occasional major projects including floor changes, studio moves or office re-arrangement
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Enrollment in high school is a minimum requirement. Prefer experience in band or orchestra.
                                                                                                                                          
Knowledge and Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Abilities: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work effectively with a team and work independently to support group effort. Willingness to continue learning.

Physical demands: Frequently (approximately 2/3 of the workday) standing, walking, lifting (up to approximately 24 lbs), reaching extension, grasping/pinching, bending at knees, and bending at waist. Occasionally (approximately 1/3 of the workday) lifting (approximately 25-100 lbs), push/pull (up to approximately 0-100 lbs), sitting, repetitive wrist motion, reaching overhead, keyboarding, writing, twisting at waist, twisting at the neck, and turning/pivoting.
