REPORTS TO: Director of Instrumental and Vocal (IVI) Instruction
LOCATION: Minneapolis, Onsite
SCHEDULE: Weekday Afternoons and Evenings, Saturdays (Flexible)
STATUS: Exempt; Part-Time
START DATE: Fall 2025
COMPENSATION: Instruction hourly pay rate determination by level of tuition, education, experience.
Level 1 = $42.00 - $49.00 per hour
Level 2 = $50.00 - $59.00 per hour

Job Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching expertise. The instructor teaches individual guitar lessons for students of varying levels (beginning to advanced) with an emphasis on the beginners who are interested in learning a variety of musical styles.

Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Foster a positive learning environment
- Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion
- Provide expert music instruction, including demonstrating playing during lessons and coaching the student
- Manage studio, including: recruitment, lesson planning, scheduling, registration paperwork, Outlook calendar maintenance, phone calls, and communication
- Participation in the IVI department, including: attending department meetings
- Engagement in the overall work and mission of MacPhail Center for Music
- Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A degree or certification in music or music education, or the equivalent, preferred
- Experience: Minimum of three years of studio teaching working with all ages and skill levels of which a significant portion is with young students and beginners, preferred. Experience teaching small groups, preferred. Experience teaching diverse styles of music, preferred.
