TITLE: Program Set-up Specialist REPORTS TO: Facilities Team Supervisor STATUS: Non-exempt, full-time, 30 hours per week, benefit eligible Evening and weekend hours required LOCATION: Minneapolis
Job Summary The Set-Up Specialist is responsible for setting up and taking down rooms for music instruction, meetings, performances, and events at MacPhail sites and partnership sites, with Minneapolis as the primary site. This position has a high frequency of interaction with faculty, staff and guests, and must conduct all interactions in a professional and friendly manner. The Specialist cleans the building and provides upkeep of grounds and building maintenance. This position closes the building on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends.
Actively monitor set-up log, schedule, and requests to identify and resolve issues
Interact in a positive and friendly manner with all customers, reporting any concerns to Manager
Move and set-up furniture, instruments, equipment for music instruction, meetings, performances, and events
Janitorial – 20%
Clean and supply the designated building areas as assigned
Remove garbage and recycling as scheduled from designated building areas
Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
Grounds & Maintenance – 10%
Exterior work to include snow removal and lawn care
Maintenance work as assigned
Perform boiler checks, communicating any identified issues to Manager or other identified party
Other Duties

This includes but is not limited to the following actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect of other’s property and person; professional and appropriate communication to and about staff, visitors, and clients.
Open and close the building as scheduled
Inspect facility for maintenance and safety concerns throughout shift, reporting and addressing as appropriate
Security as requested
Assist with occasional major projects including floor changes, studio moves, office re-arrangement, etc.
Follow all health and safety regulations
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience. High school diploma or equivalent. MN Boiler’s License, at least Special level, preferred. 1-3 years of related work experience. Knowledge and Skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Knowledge of proper cleaning and basic maintenance techniques. Effective computer skills, especially Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Abilities.Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively with a team and work independently to support group effort. Willingness to continue learning. Physical demands. Frequently (approximately 2/3 of the workday) standing, walking, lifting (u to approximately 24 lbs), reaching extension, grasping/pinching, bending at knees, bending at waist, vision (far, depth), perception (spatial), and speech. Occasionally (approximately 1/3 of the workday) lifting (approximately 25-100 lbs), push/pull (up to approximately 0-100 lbs), sitting, repetitive wrist motion, reaching overhead, keyboarding, writing, twisting at waist, twisting at neck, turning/pivoting, hear (conversations), vision (near, color), and perception (form).
